Sunshine Days Raises Over $70,000 For Needy Children In Time For The Holidays Daedalus Real Estate Advisors Continues Efforts with Gifts for the Holidays
MESA, Ariz. (Dec. 6, 2005) - East Valley Charities and Longbow Business Park joined forces to raise more than $70,000 at the 8th Annual "Sunshine Days" celebration to benefit Sunshine Acres Children's Home.
The golf tournament and related festivities took place at Longbow Golf Club on Friday, November 18, 2005. More than 160 players teed up to benefit the Mesa children's home, which was founded in 1954.
A spectacular 1965 Mustang served as the alluring raffle prize, which drew $25,000 in ticket purchases. One of the event sponsors purchased 200 raffle tickets. However, the old clich? of "it only takes one ticket to win" held true in this case. Ken Soto of Mesa purchased a single raffle ticket and proudly drove off with the prize.
Sunshine Acres is a charitable organization dedicated to providing homes for children who are separated from their own parents for one reason or another. Sunshine Acres helps the children establish long-term relationships with stable parental figures.
Vera Dingman founded Sunshine Acres with her husband, Rev. Jim Dingman. Their goal was to create a loving, wholesome Christian home for children who were separated from their parents. Sunshine Acres cares for children ages 5 to 15, providing stability and loving care for some children through their college years. Ms. Dingman, who passed away earlier this year, hoped to help each child become healthy, happy community citizens with a strong sense of spirituality and responsibility.
"The passing of 'Aunt Vera' Dingman compelled all of us to work a little harder this year to support her mission and goals," says Tom Sitzman, chairman of East Valley Charities and event director for Sunshine Days. "A good deal of our community's outreach assistance has been focused on the world's many recent natural disasters. We're truly blessed that the sponsors and players enthusiastically assisted us to raise more funds this year than ever before."
"We're pleased that this year our proceeds increased by more than 50 percent," says Robert M. McNichols of Daedalus Real Estate Advisors, LLC, developer of Longbow Business Park and Golf Club. "Providing this level of funding in time for the holidays is truly a heartwarming experience for everyone who participated." Daedalus will continue its efforts for Sunshine Acres this season by asking guests at its annual holiday party to bring a special gift for the Sunshine Acres children.
