Katrina fund-raisers
By John Davis
Robert McNichols, owner of Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, has created "National Day of Golf for the Gulf," in which courses across the country are being asked to donate all or part of their revenues on Sept. 30 to relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina victims.
"This event allows golfers to enjoy the beauty of nature on the nation's courses while helping others in their time of need," McNichols said. "The charitable potential is impressive."
McNichols said his course expects to contribute about $5,000 to the cause.
