MARKETPLACE ON MEADOW DRIVE HONORED AS BEST NEW BUSINESS BY VAIL DAILY READERS

The annual Vail Daily Best of Vail Valley Readers' Choice awards honors Marketplace on Meadow Drive as the Best New Business in the Vail Valley for 2008.

The poll, a 15-year tradition, takes place during December and January. Readers of the Vail Daily are encouraged to vote for their favorite Vail Valley establishments and attractions in a varied group of categories. Marketplace on Meadow Drive, which opened last summer, has been honored as the readers’ favorite for the Best New Business in the Vail Valley. The Marketplace is located on the ground floor level of the new One Willow Bridge Road condominium project in the center of Vail Village.

In addition to the Best New Business award, Marketplace on Meadow Drive was recognized with an award from Vail Daily readers in the Best Pizza category. Prepared to order and cooked in the exhibition-style domed oven, the Marketplace gourmet pizzas are one of the most popular menu items with lunch and dinner customers of all ages. The Best Pizza category is traditionally dominated by the dozens of large, traditional American pizza pie purveyors in the Vail Valley. The Marketplace’s European style of preparation and ingredients represents a departure in popularity to the new “old style” for Vail’s pizza lovers.

The multi-faceted retail concept of Marketplace on Meadow Drive is offered through a series of shopping and dining venues to suit nearly every food and beverage need
of visitors and residents alike.

The centerpiece of Marketplace is the gourmet Market that provides a wide variety of merchandise ranging from basic toiletries to the finest imported Prosciutto. Comfortable, favorite national brands of dry goods can be purchased, as well as fine baked goods and artisan cheeses from Colorado’s finest local vendors. In addition, the Market offers delicious, take-out meals for the ultimate in convenience.

Surrounding the Market is a collection of spaces for enjoyable dining and shopping experiences. The Bistro provides delicious breakfast, lunch and casual evening dining. A Café area entices shoppers with a full array of tempting cheeses, baked goods, desserts, wines, coffee and tea drinks. Newspapers, magazines and access to Internet service make this a new hangout for locals and visitors.

Decadent pleasures can be found at the Crêperie where both savory dinner crepes and spectacular dessert crepes are made to order. Mouth-watering Italian gelatos and sorbets, candies and desserts are also featured at the Crêperie.

The Tavern, located adjacent to the Crêperie, is a cozy spot to enjoy tempting tapas, light dinner and a glass of wine, beer or your favorite cocktail. Next to the Tavern you’ll find the Wine Shop, which features a wide selection of wines ranging from daily table varieties to collector vintages. The Wine Shop also provides spirits and a wide array of international and domestic beers.

Marketplace on Meadow Drive is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and convenient gourmet grocery shopping 365 days of the year.
